Cryolipolysis or lipocavitation, what are the differences?

Curves spoil the pleasure of fittings and even affect the self-confidence of the people concerned. cryolipolysis and lipocavitation are aesthetic medicine techniques that allow to refine the body.

They target well-defined areas such as the upper back, abdomen, love wrists, bulges, double chin, etc.

Discover the specificities of each method. You will thus be able to know their differences and choose with complete peace of mind.

I- Cryolipolysis: cold to eliminate fat cells

Cryolipolysis is an innovative method which consists of using the coldto cause a selective destruction of fat cells (adipocytes). The low temperatures allow the elimination of fat cells that stick to the skin.

Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical procedure. It therefore does not require any intervention from a surgeon.

In addition, it is completely painless. The skin on the areas to be treated is compressed in a device.

This technique was born from the combination of two specialties: cryogenics (science of cold) and lipolysis (elimination of lipids). p>

1- How does cryolipolysis take place?

Before starting out, you must speak with a specialist who is trained and able to perform this technique. To perform a cryolipolysis session, the professional needs a coolsculpting device that diffuses cold. The low temperature will then destroy the fat cells which are located under the skin.

It also uses a handpiece which exerts suction like a suction cup (cryode). The fat cells are then frozen and their temperature drops sharply.

Fat is rich in fatty acids, which is why its cells (adipocytes) cannot withstand the cold. The adipocytes will then self-destruct. Cryolipolysis permanently eliminates between 20% and 40% of fat cells. Furthermore, with this process other skin cells are not damaged.

2- Is cryolipolysis effective?

This is a technique that allows you to get rid of the fatty tissues that are the cause of inveterate bulges. Naturally, it will be important to continue with consistent diets and sports activities.

Non-invasive and without social exclusion, it is effective on both women and men . However, as it can only remove between 3 and 10 cm of fatty folds, cryolipolysis is not the right solution to fight obesity.

II- Lipocavitation: ultrasound to target fatty deposits

Lipocavitation is also a non-invasive technique which allows you to treat a well-defined area by making the fat cells (adipocytes) disappear. It consists of creating air bubbles which will enlarge until the adipocyte membrane bursts.

The professional uses an ultrasonic device with a frequency between 38 MHz and 42 MHz to create these air bubbles.

The destroyed cells are then evacuated naturally when the person urinates. The lymphatic systemalso plays a role in eliminating dead cells. To complete lipocavitation, lymphatic drainage is necessary.

The emission of high-frequency sound waves, a painless and surgery-free process, only destroys fat cells and does not attack other tissues in the area to be treated (muscles, blood vessels, nerves, etc.). It takes about 5 to 6 sessions to obtain good results.

1- How does lipocavitation work?

The device used exerts suction and vibration on the skin while increasing the temperature of the fatty layer.

Thanks to this pressure, the fat cells are liquefied and their contents are dispersed in the blood. The body then uses these fatty acids as a source of energy or excretes them through urine, perspiration and respiration.

2- Lipocavitation: what are the advantages?

Lipocavitation is not painful and the sessions are short. However, several treatments are essential to obtain results. It helps eliminate skin imperfections.

III- Cryolipolysis or lipocavitation: choose according to your situation

Cryolipolysis or lipocavitation? They are both non-surgical and painless. With cryolipolysis, you can lose 30% of your body fat. The first results are visible four weeks after the first session. Thanks to a weekly check-up, the doctor will know if it is necessary to schedule a second session. These two sessions should be spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Lipocavitation, for its part, is less effective and can be recommended as a complementary treatment to cryolipolysis to obtain optimal results.

If you wish to take advantage of these non-invasive treatments to refine your figure, it is strongly recommended to have a medical check-up to find out if you can benefit from them or not. Be sure to follow all restrictions and recommendations that your doctor will give you.
